A New Chapter for Campbell House

Architects at Tonkin Zulaikha Greer were tasked with reimagining this historic residence as a commercial office space. Their brief called for a design that celebrated sustainability, embraced biophilic principles, and respected the home’s original charm. Natural materials and thoughtful detailing were essential, with easycraft Contours Tasmanian Oak Riverine profile selected to bring warmth, texture, and a timeless finish to the interiors.

Why Easycraft Contours?

The Riverine profile, with its distinctive half-round curve, was chosen to echo the Federation building’s existing features from arched windows to ornate sandstone mouldings. Beyond aesthetics, Contours linings provided the durability and longevity required for a high-use workspace. Easycraft’s panels offered a practical solution that could be installed efficiently.

“The geometry of the half-round curve speaks to arched windows, bay windows, and ornate sandstone mouldings on the Federation building,” explains architect Nazia Kachwalla of Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.

Blending Heritage and Modernity

The design honours the original façade while introducing contemporary elements such as a glass-walled staircase and open atrium. Easycraft Contours Tasmanian Oak Riverine was key in creating a seamless dialogue between eras, complementing the timber floors and brightening the interior. The panels celebrate the home’s history while positioning it firmly in today’s architectural landscape.

Sustainability at the Core

Sustainability shaped every decision. The renovation maximises natural light and ventilation, uses solar power, and integrates recycled materials. Contours crafted from renewable Tasmanian Oak, reinforced the project’s commitment to environmentally responsible design. The result is a workplace that connects people to nature while reducing environmental impact.
